Installation
Add analytics to an existing .NET application or start with a small example. The engine stores data locally and runs in the same process as your application.
Choose a package
| Package | Use it for |
|---|---|
ZoneTree.Analytics | Tracking events, querying metrics, and reading website reports from .NET |
ZoneTree.Analytics.AspNetCore | Dependency injection, HTML or browser tracking, and HTTP reporting |
Both packages support .NET 8, 9, and 10. The ASP.NET Core package includes the core engine as a dependency.
dotnet add package ZoneTree.Analytics
dotnet add package ZoneTree.Analytics.AspNetCore # optional: middleware, tracker, reporting API Install the packages into the application that will collect or report on your data.
Choose a data location
Use a writable directory that survives application restarts. Existing data is reopened when you start the application again.
Keep one engine open for each dataset while the application runs. In ASP.NET Core, dependency injection manages that lifetime. If you run multiple engines, give each a separate directory.
Relative paths are resolved against the process working directory in the core library and against the content root in ASP.NET Core.
Choose a reporting calendar
UTC is the default. Choose another reporting time zone before creating the dataset if your reports should follow a local business day. The time zone is saved with the dataset.
Continue with your application
- Direct .NET usage: Track your first events and read a report.
- Web application: Add ASP.NET Core tracking and reporting.
- Ready-made reporting: Run the dashboard application.
The dashboard server requires .NET 10. Node.js and Yarn are needed for its UI build; they are not required for the core library.
